NPOESS/COMET® Training Resources Development Workshop

Welcome to the NPOESS/COMET Training Resources Development Workshop Home Page! This workshop is designed primarily to evaluate effectiveness of current polar-orbiting satellite training efforts and how they prepare the user community for future initiatives such as NPOESS. It will look into identifying common training initiatives that address multiple constituencies’ needs that the COMET program (in cooperation with the IPO) can use for guidance in planning future learning materials. This year's workshop will primarily focus on the new Satellite Matrix initiative.

NPOESS Workshop Goals:

• Provide participants with insight into current NPOESS restructured baseline program
• Refine the training requirements for the polar-orbiting and geostationary satellite user community that can be satisfied by COMET resources (capture inputs and get participant concurrence)
• Evaluate prototype Satellite Matrix including integration of current and future POES and GOES capabilities
• Create strategic curriculum plan for FY 08 and beyond
• Identify potential subject matter experts willing to either contribute to content development or assist in the review process
• Expand opportunities for international collaboration in geostationary and polar-orbiting curriculum planning
• Identify existing resources and development efforts that can be effectively leveraged by COMET to enhance the value of NPOESS Userport to the user community
• Increase user awareness of the NPOESS Userport capabilities (solicit feedback)

An additional note: A registration fee of $85.00 to cover the cost of food and miscellaneous items provided by COMET will be collected on the first day of the NPOESS/COMET Workshop. Please be prepared to pay this registration fee in cash or with a check made out to UCAR.
