• Temperature

  • Two basic situations:
    • Variation in temperature between the top of the snow pack and the ground
      • Temperature Gradient
      • Largely determined by thickness of snow pack and the mean snow surface temperature
        • Base of snow pack is usually near 0oC
      • No temperature gradient
        • Isothermal
