Welcome to the COMET Satellite Meteorology (SatMet) Course Home Page. This course, designed primarily for satellite focal points, is a two-week course are provided for meteorologists who require current information on the capabilities of the latest generation of geostationary meteorological satellites (GOES-8 and GOES-10). The main emphasis is on the integration of satellite observations with other observing systems and numerical models to improve short-term forecasting. These courses are open to federal employees, university faculty, private-sector meteorologists, and international visitors.
