Storm top cooling rates (contd)
Cooling rates of overshooting tops
Parcels decelerate as they exceed the equilibrium level. Therefore, cooling
rates decrease. Now the cooling rate of the overshooting top indicates
the increase in the height of the overshooting top. Note how much smaller
the cooling rates are here compared to the last figure for the same set
of storms.
Figure adapted from Adler, et. al., 1985
**Caution here**
-
No mention about the homogeneity of the atmosphere.
-
Better resolution now - > inflated cooling rates
-
Max cooling rate could be a function of image interval.
