Anvil-induced boundaries
after Markowski et. al, 1998
- There is evidence that the southern anvil shadow edge may result in
significant baroclinity ahead of the storm.
- The baroclinity can result in significant horizontal vorticity production, especially for flow with long residence times in the baroclinic zone.
- Implications for increasing tornado threat?
- Will work only if ground is exposed to sun outside anvil.
Example from 8 June 1995
