Subject:  Preparations for SatMet 00-1

The Orientation Manual for SatMet 00-1 details the objectives and course outline, a list of references for the course, the  logistical information you will need for this course and some general information about Boulder.

We will cover a wide variety of topics during the two-week course.  Lectures will focus on the physical interpretation and operational application of each concept.  This will be supplemented by many laboratory sessions that utilize the various data display and manipulation packages that are available in the COMET teaching laboratory and either are, or soon will be available in your own office.

Please read the logistical information for the COMET Administrative Staff as soon as possible.  If you have not already submitted the online questionnaire please do so before Tuesday, 21 March 2000.

To prepare for the course, we ask you to do three things prior to the first day of class.  Most important, please complete the COMET Satellite Meteorology I CBL.  Second, review the information found on the SatMet Home Page.  Finally, we would like to encourage you all to attend the Workstation Tutorial that is scheduled for Monday, 3 April 2000.  A formal tutorial on the different software packages and workstations will begin at 1:30 pm.  If you will be arriving after 1:30 pm, we still invite you to come to the classroom until 5:00 pm.

If you have any questions or if you need additional materials, please feel free to contact either the COMET Residence Program Staff or myself at:

                  kidder@cira.colostate.edu
                  Don.Moore@noaa.gov

You may also contact Mr. Tony Mostek, the Course Coordinator by email or by calling (303) 497-8490.

We are looking forward to getting to know you and working with you.
