(This presentation was adapted from a lecture given by Don Gray
as part of the COMET Satellite Meteorology Course March 9, 1999.)

Software Required

This lecture has been recorded in streaming video/audio format for replay over the Web. In order to access the video/audio segments, the RealPlayer Plus player must be installed on your computer. If you have not already done so, download and install this player from the RealPlayer website.

This site requires Netscape version 4.07 or higher or Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher to run properly.

Resolution

Your screen resolution should be set at 800 x 600 or higher to minimize scrolling and optimize screen formatting.

Formats

This lecture contains 9 sections that vary in length from 3 to 10 minutes. Each segment addresses a topic from the overview (shown on the next page). Some sections also contain supplementary information from other COMET material. These materials can be viewed by clicking the appropriate links. When the audio segments are activated, a separate window will appear with slides from the lecture as well as audio controls that allow you to replay parts of the lecture (simply drag the slider at the top of the image to an earlier position).

Note:

You will notice that the audio portion of this presentation contains an electronic hum in the background. This presentation was recorded live in the COMET classroom, and we experienced technical difficulties that day with our PA system. We have made every attempt to improve the audio recording, but it is still not at the level of quality we would like. However, we felt that the information was important to release nonetheless.

This audio problem has been corrected and should not recur in future webcasts of this type.
