Satellite Data in NSSL's Warning Decision Support System

• Displayed same as radar
  • Visible and Infrared data mapped to azimuth/range
  • Limited area (not even as large as radar)

• Temperature trends
  • based on radar cell id
  • adjusted for typical parallax displacement
  • sampled square area 20km x 20 km

• Software based on TIME

• Independent trends needed (correlate to radar?)

• Flexible sampling area (i.e. sample entire anvil/feature)

• Complex trend graphs more useful
  • variable scale (i.e. for day/season, region)
  • longer time span than 10 volume scans

• Larger display
  • Allow satellite to extend radar range
