Compare Features in VIS and IR

IR and VIS imagery are used to view the same phenomena but meteorologists interpret the information from each channel differently. Using the channels and their imagery in combination gives a more accurate picture of weather conditions.

The adjacent VIS and IR images of Lake Michigan and the surrounding landmass were taken at the same time (14 June 1995 at 20:01:44 UTC). Look at both images and use the imagery you think is appropriate for answering each of the following two questions.
