Within the Norman, OK WFO’s county warning area, numerous studies have documented the impact of land surface conditions on near-surface atmospheric properties during the day. Research in this area has benefited greatly from the unique operational networks in the area (Oklahoma Mesonet and Little Washita Micronet) that collect research quality observations across high-resolution spatial and temporal domains. More recently, a new operational micronet was deployed in Oklahoma City to monitor urban atmospheric conditions. The goal of this project is to evaluate downscaled high resolution output from the WRF model with the observations from these real-time data sources in order.
