University of Texas at Arlington: "Implementation of a hydrologic information data server in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex."

Abstract:

The systems and technology available to measure and record hydrologic data have improved dramatically through the efforts of multiple agencies. However, much of the data are not readily available for public access or transferable among the research and forecast communities. Existing information is often recorded, archived, and published in different formats. The purpose of this Partners Project is to establish a data platform in the Dallas/Fort Worth area to store and host hydrologic information from the National Weather Service West Gulf River Forecast Center. This one-year pilot project will focus on finding the best procedures for bringing NWS daily precipitation data into the server (housed at the University of Texas at Arlington). Future efforts to host additional data sets will benefit from lessons learned during this project, and ultimately, increased data access will allow the hydrologic community to develop new applications and products for public stakeholders.
