The Atlantic Oceanographic & Meteorological Laboratory (ERL/AOML), has a wealth of information and conducted an experiment called: Windfields at Landfall Experiment during the Florida landfall of Hurricane Erin

They are also using WSR-88D data from Erin to develop tropical cyclone algorithms for future National Weather Service use, see the National Hurricane Center home page.
