This session focuses on climate variability and its implications for wildland fires in the eastern United States. The topic area will address the physical, biological, ecological, and social implications of climate change and climate variability in eastern states fire management. It will elaborate the implications of Eastern wildland under climate variability by, among other approaches, showcasing modeling of potential future climate states and fire regimes. Under such scenarios, carbon sequestration and Eastern wildland fire, the potential for fire to influence macro and micro-climate, and eastern fire’s contributions to atmospheric radiation balance changes will be explored.
