This session explores using remote sensing for eastern fuel loading, structure and moisture, validation for fuel treatment effectiveness and program progress, fire fuel indices and classification systems, and fuel mapping in the east. It will also showcase past simulation modeling work to guide fuel treatments strategies and where the application of fuels modeling for development of treatment strategies might go in the future. Finally, the session will address using and developing fuels management decision support systems for the eastern states.
