Topics included

This session focuses on one of the most difficult yet fundamental aspects of wildland fire management in the eastern United States – the Wildland urban Interface. It will explore using remote sensing and simulation models to characterize the wildland urban interface, implications of growth to eastern fire management, and new science for decision support in the wildland urban interface adapted to eastern states. It will also explore fire simulation modeling that focuses on the eastern wildland urban interface and how new modeling approaches have been applied or may be applied in the near future.
