Facilitating Stakeholder Discussions to Improve Impact-Based Forecasting Approaches

 

Course Description

In this course, you’ll take on the role of a Forecast Operations Manager preparing for and facilitating a multi-agency conversation to review the effectiveness of the Impact-Based Forecasting (IBF) approach. You’ll practice understanding the roles and responsibilities of each stakeholder, and using that information to help stakeholders surface gaps and move toward collaborative solution-building. By the end of the lesson, you will understand how effective facilitation can help build a shared common purpose among stakeholders that motivates the group to reflect on their roles in the IBF operation and consider how they can be more active.

 

Intended Audience

The intended audience for "Facilitating Stakeholder Discussions to Improve Impact-Based Forecasting Approaches” includes professionals who work in an IBF service (e.g., disaster risk reduction agencies, meteorologists, government officials, and emergency managers) and are interested in assessing outcomes and identifying opportunities for refinement in their IBF pilot program. You will benefit from having knowledge and experience with impact-based forecast and warning operations.
