Our End-to-End Support

The COMET Innovative Capacity Development Program (ICDP) supports early warning of severe weather events every step of the way. Our weather observation sensors send weather data to the WRF Cloud, a cloud-based weather forecasting system facilitated by scientists, software engineers, and designers from COMET and across the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), and the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR). We collaborate with stakeholders on impact-based warning systems, forecast development, and public messaging. We also manage remote communications and emergency management tools to help national meteorological offices take appropriate action to mitigate the adverse effects of weather hazards.

Our End-to-End Early Warning Support

Innovative Instrumentation: 3D-PAWS Sensors

Our low-cost, easy-to-maintain 3D-PAWS sensors provide early warning and evaluation of weather conditions.

Cloud Computing

We support the development of cloud computing-based regional forecast systems.

Real-time Data

We support access to real-time data.

Remote Communications & Emergency Management

We support national meteorological offices to take appropriate action to mitigate the adverse effects of weather hazards.
